David Powell, Director of Product Development

Mr. Powell joined the Wilmington Team in 1996 as the Director of Manufacturing for C-Phone Corporation with an extensive background with product realization processes, production engineering, and supply line management. His twenty-two years of professional experience includes product design with Bell Laboratories, engineering management with AT&T Advanced Technology Systems, and program management with AT&T Custom Manufacturing Systems.

David has lead teams in the development and manufacturing of products ranging from military sonar systems to set-top video conferencing systems to cellular phones. His broad range of competencies includes quality engineering, mechanical design, program management, and manufacturing resource planning.

His most valued contributions to our team result from his broad perspective and experience that have come from wearing hats on both the product design and the manufacturing sides of product realization.  David is fluent in numerous CAD tools, MFRP software, and nearly every form of fabrication and prototyping.

While creative and capable, his abilities go well beyond his design and production background. His management skills to interface and manage external resources for design services, components, and manufacturing services has been a great benefit to the team's efforts.

He holds a B.S.M.E. from Clemson University (1984).
